Shirt without tie and wide smile, the new portrait of President
Sarkozy on Facebook is deliberately cool and relaxed. According to
Franck Louvrier, the President's adviser, we have "to adapt
the page to the support". Besides official news,
we learn that the President's favorite book is "Red and Black" by
Stendhal. To celebrate this new version of the official page of the
President, the Elysée publish a video filmed by the weekly magazine
"Femme Actuelle" during an interview with Carla Bruni Sarkozy in the
Elysee salons.

Since Monday 18 May at 08:00, the 1st legally binding electronic election in Austrian history went online. The Austrian Federal Student Union is being elected during this week via a remote electronic channel. Next week from May 26 to May 28 an ordinary, paper based voting channel will be opened to ensure. The paper and the electronic votes will be counted on the 28th and hence the results should be available in the evening.

The European election
campaign is largely absent from mass media. In an attempt to mobilize
voters, the European Parliament has increased the online communication to explain and
persuade Europeans. Have a look, for instance, on the Delicious Parliament page, which gives an overview of what is said and done
on Internet around the European elections. The European Parliament
has launched an intense campaign, particularly towards young people
with a special site on the elections, interactive and in 22
languages, a presence on Facebook, MySpace, Flickr and YouTube. Enjoy

"To be a central player in the online debate on Europe" is one of the main objectives of Touteleurope.fr, a French website created in 2006 after the French No in the referendum on the Constitutional Treaty. This website want to convince French people that Europe is our future. Touteleurope.fr is organizing a virtual meeting with José Manuel Barrosa, President of the European Commission, next Monday May 18. People are invited to ask their questions and answers will be published in the May 20 edition of the daily newspaper "Metro" - distributed in 14 European countries - as well as Touteleurope.fr. Thirty years after the first election of the European Parliament by direct vote, 375 million voters representing 27 member countries
of the European Union and their 500 million inhabitants will vote from 4 to
7 June to elect 736 Members of Parliament. It is the biggest transnational elections in history. But, according to polls, a majority of voters may not
get around. The electoral campaign should reflect consideration by the European
political parties, lessons of the American net-campaign and change
their practices with the use of Web 2.0. But it should also demonstrate
that these tools do not make the election alone.
