On Wednesday 18 November, Vinnova and the City of Malmö organize a Pre-conference for the EU 5th Ministerial eGovernment Conference. The aim of this pre-conference (fully booked) is to demonstrate actual use of and potential of eGovernment research.
Member State ministers responsible for eGovernment are scheduled to meet on the eve of the 5th Ministerial eGovernment Conference, 18 November, to agree on a Ministerial Declaration that will set out the path for the field of eGovernment up until 2015. At the last eGov Ministerial Conference, in Lisbon in 2007, VINNOVA introduced, as Coordinator for the FP6 project eGOVERNET, a full day research track. This event was very successful. As a further development of this success a preconference meeting entitled "eGovernment Research and Innovation: Empowering Citizens & Government Services Across Sectors and Borders" will take place November 18th in Malmö, Sweden.
VINNOVA set up a Steering Research Committee of 5 delegates with Mr Trond Knudsen, Research Council of Norway, as Chairman. Other members are Karin Axelsson, University of Linköping, Sweden, Eric Legale, Issy Media, France, Witold Staniszkis, Rodan Systems. Poland and Maria Wimmer, University of Koblenz, Germany. The task of the Steering Committee has been to influence the programme planning and contacts with speakers.[Conference website]
